Yin Yoga, which was developed over 30 years ago, includes a slow, deep series of floor postures that are typically held in a passive way for 3-5 minutes.
Yin focuses on the stimulation of the connection tissue, primarily in the hips, shoulders and lower spine and allows the student an opportunity to take time and look inward, to quiet an active mind, bringing an awareness of breath and an opportunity to experience the different layers of sensation. Yin will prepare the body both physically and energetically to sit more comfortably while enjoying balance and contentment.
Although this form of yoga is more passive, it can also be quite challenging. All levels are welcome and modifications will be provided for any sensitivities or injuries.
